THE MAPLE
TREE
I remember many a time when I
was young
Your leaves and branches gave
me shade from the sun
We grew together as though we
were one
And when things went wrong,
to you I would run
My beautiful Maple, so strong
and true
Guaranteed to cheer me when
I felt blue
Telling my secrets to no one
but you
Made me feel refreshed and brand
new
Many years and time went by
And never stopped to wonder
why
I always thought that I could
fly
As I climbed your branches way
up high
Life continued and I moved away
You remained in place, content
to stay
Each time I returned, you were
happy to play
It brings a smile to my face
every single day
Then darkness came and left
you alone
I no longer visited; I was all
grown
You moved on, knowing I could
make it on my own
But I thank you, for all the
seeds that you've sown |
